England
London
London is massive, so pick somewhere central to both of you. Skylight Peckham in summer is relaxed and social. The Southbank Centre gives you a walk along the river and plenty of options if you want food or a drink after. For something quieter, Dishoom in Covent Garden is a safe bet — good food, good atmosphere, and easy to get to.
Manchester
The Northern Quarter is the go-to. Fig & Sparrow for coffee, or Apollo for a relaxed drink. If you fancy a walk, the canal around Castlefield is lovely in the evening.
Birmingham
The canal-side bars around Brindleyplace are perfect for a first date — public, relaxed, and plenty of options. The Alchemist is a fun choice if you want cocktails with a bit of theatre.
Brighton
Walk the pier, grab fish and chips on the beach, and see where the evening takes you. The Lanes has good pubs if you want to sit down. Brighton is one of the easiest cities in the UK for a casual, no-pressure date.
Bristol
Clifton Village is lovely for a wander, and The Clifton Sausage is a cosy pub for food after. Stokes Croft has a more edgy, creative vibe if that's more your thing.
York
Walk the city walls, then grab a drink at The House of the Trembling Madness — a medieval pub with a cracking selection of beers. York is one of the most romantic cities in England without even trying.

Edinburgh
A walk through Princes Street Gardens, then drinks on George Street. If it's August, the festival makes everything more chaotic but more fun. The Bow Bar is a great old pub for a quieter drink.
Glasgow
The West End is the best area for a date. Oran Mor at the top of Byres Road is a great starting point. Ashton Lane has several bars and restaurants in one spot, so you can move around if you want.
Wales
Cardiff
Cardiff Bay is the obvious choice — a walk along the waterfront, then a drink at one of the bars in Mermaid Quay. Pontcanna has good cafés and a more local feel if you want to avoid the city centre.
Tenby
If you're on the south coast of Wales, Tenby is hard to beat for a weekend date. Beach walks, harbour pubs, and a proper getaway feel.

Belfast
The Cathedral Quarter is the heart of Belfast's social scene. The Duke of York is a great old pub with live music. St. George's Market on a weekend morning is a brilliant casual date — food, coffee, and live music.
A Few General Tips
Whatever city you're in, pick somewhere you can actually talk. Loud bars and cinemas are rubbish for a first date — you can't have a conversation. Have an exit plan. A coffee date can be 30 minutes; a dinner is two hours. Start short. Go somewhere you know so you're not worrying about the venue on top of everything else. And don't overlook daytime dates — a Saturday afternoon coffee takes the pressure off both of you.
